Creating a custom filter by Last Name is simple:
1. Navigate to the People tab
2. Click on "Custom Filter" in the top left corner below the search button
3. Select "Last Name" as your filter
4. Next, click on "Choose" again and pick one of three options: "starts with," "is empty," or "contains"
5. Enter your search term if you selected "starts with" or "contains"
6. Finally, click on "Apply"
